FNNW 2/27

Friday Night New Wave returns at 8 p.m. Eastern for three hours of 80s music that legally qualifies as a personality trait. It’s mostly listener requests, which means at any moment the show could pivot from polished chart ambition to a song that sounds like it was recorded in a thoughtful basement. We don’t control it. We simply guide it gently with a flashlight.

This week’s Spotlight Artist is Art of Noise — a group that looked at traditional instruments and said, “What if… no?” Tape edits. Samples. Dramatic pauses that feel like someone unplugged something important. And somehow, hits. We’ll follow their evolution from beautiful audio confusion to full-blown pop experiment that accidentally worked.

There’s also Under the Radar — three songs that didn’t become famous but absolutely could’ve if fate had better taste — plus our weekly check-in with what the 80s were doing this exact week while the rest of us were trying to program a VCR.

It starts at 8 p.m. Eastern. It runs three hours. It may achieve sentience.
