This Friday night we’re lining up three hours of 80s new wave that ranges from brooding post-punk to bright, slightly overconfident synth pop... and a few songs that probably confused radio programmers the first time around.

Our Spotlight Artist this week is The Cult, tracing their evolution from shadowy mid-80s atmosphere to full-blown arena ambition. We’ll follow the arc without overexplaining it. Mood first. Volume later.

As always, the playlist is driven mostly by you. Expect requests that involve dramatic British accents, nervous drum machines, jangly college-radio guitars, and at least one song that makes you say, “Oh wow, I forgot about this.”
